5 Stars Great game, more complex story (than previous games), and strongly recommended. A good story experience.
I’ve been playing the Zelda series since the original in 1987. I’ve followed the stories, how they combined together at times (the legends told in “A Link to the Past” explain what was happening in and at the end of “Ocarina of Time”, and although they were slightly different that is to be expected when several hundred years pass and people forget the details). I like how so much of this game is more interactive than before. They really made use of the Wii’s capabilities to introduce a new way of playing Zelda.

Before you even start the game, sit through the entire title screen and intro video. It tells a basic outline of the story (up to getting the Master Sword), and kind of sets the mood for game play. It was a very well done intro and that alone could be a commercial for the game.

Although graphics don’t purely make a game great, they certainly do add to the enjoyment. As you go through this game, take a look around at the attention to detail the developers put into this. Look up in a dungeon and see the details the put in the architecture, even in areas that will be overlooked by most players. There is so much that can be missed if you just play the game rather than take your time to enjoy your surroundings as if you were really walking through the area. Since you’re not timed, and then why not spend the additional time to do this?

I’ve read some reviews where there is question of the teen rating. In my opinion it is partially due to the story, but I think it is more on the basis of “teens and up will have an easier understanding of what is going on”. Part of this rating may be due to the transformation scenes (not a normal “poof” type of transforming, but a mutation forced by a dark power, and the facial expressions of characters at times like this). One dialogue that comes to mind which could be helping the teen rating is when the Zora princess explains about her mother being decapitated in front of all of her people as a symbol to fear Zant (the bad guy). In another part early into the game, a certain character (avoiding spoilers so not saying who) appears to destroy themself in attempt to pass their power to someone else. Certain discussions like that might have just barely pushed the game into a teen rating. I’m sure Nintendo would rather give it a teen rating and have people wonder why than give it a lesser rating and have some complaints that it should be questioned for possibly needing a teen rating.

The story is something to pay very close attention to. There are many twists that it takes and things you’d be less likely to expect will happen. My wife was saddened to see a certain part of the ending scene (no spoilers). I’ll not give the details, but once you finish it you’ll understand. This was the first time I saw a Zelda game take a more realistic turn and show that sometimes things need to be done which may prevent a fully happy ending for the characters involved but are ultimately in the better interests of the world. Anyone who has played much of the Final Fantasy series or certain other RPG games (Secret of Mana is one that has a similarly “not so happy, but necessary ending”). Some characters have personal relationships that developed for themselves or with themselves and someone else. Some of these wont be clear until the end of the game. The story of the characters and the history of how the Twilight Realm came to be is a standard example of what happens when people find power and become too greedy with it.

The quests are not too hard but can be long. Some are long and annoying but still fun. The bug finding quest is interesting and the comments the lady says when you bring her the bugs are even funnier at times. Though some quests try to rapidly drain your money, the bug collecting helps fill them back up.

Game play is easy to get used to, and you’re taught 7 different special moves throughout the game. You have to master that move to continue and learn another. When you go to learn the next, you’re re-tested on the last one to make sure you didn’t just master it long enough to pass the test. The items you get are a mixture of some old and some new. I personally liked the ball and chain which was a great weapon and useful for cutting grass or breaking ice and worked as a replacement to bombs for breaking large rocks in the fields. The new use of the bow and arrow is different now that we have the Wii’s “mouse pointer” ability on the screen.

There are occasional jokes that are hidden in the game, most of which adults are more likely to pick up on (due to more knowledge and experience than the content, everything is kid-friendly being a Nintendo release). For example, one character dreams of moving their store “Malo-mart” into the castle’s city for the purpose of offering quality items and discounted prices. Another set of characters make fun of modern day advertising by commenting about how they really want to buy something even though they have no idea why they want it.

One final thought for the more technical type (many of which who are interested are already familiar). I’ll not go into detail but it can be searched for and easily found. This game is yet another time when a save file exploit is needed to install the Homebrew Channel and allow for us to run home-made applications on the Wii. (Of course remember the standard disclaimers with running unofficial software, using at your own risk, warranty issues, stuff like that. But if you’re really worried, having a 2nd Wii is good so you can play with one and use the other. We’ve only had this ability less than a year and the Wii software development kit has been greatly updated with a lot of new features.)

I really look forward to the next Zelda release for the Wii (or non-portable console). We’re going on 2.5 yrs now so I hope it is this year. After playing this game you can see why it takes years between major releases like this one (I’m not counting the DS ones, those could be put together in far less time since far less is involved due to more technical limitations on that console).

This game is great! It is packed with detailed levels and puzzles. There are loads of side tasks to do as well as the main objective of the game. Very entertaining and fun!

3 Stars Pretty good but very weird game.
When I borrowed this game, I was very excited. I am a huge Ocarina of Time fan so I instantly started playing.

It started to get a little weird close to the beginning, but it was just typical Zelda weird. It slowly got stranger and stranger. The ending was so weird that it gave me a headache and I instantly gave it back. It was by far the strangest game I had ever played.

Also, there was way too much copied from Ocarina of Time. Half the items were nearly exactly the same as the Ocarina of Time. Changing the names from hookshot to clawshot and Zora Tunic to Zora Armor doesn’t make them new items. The Bombchu was copied too. A little reference to the Ocarina of Time would bring a smile to any game player’s face, but this is an overdose.

Without the copying and strangeness, this would have bee a very good game. The fighting is absolutely superb, but easy enemies and bosses take away the chance of showing off or getting better. The puzzles can be a little bit boring, but not too boring. The mini games are pretty good too.

This could have been a superb game. Next time Nintendo should make a game with new ideas and normal Zelda weirdness.

I purchased this game as a gift. My father said that it is alot of fun and very challenging. Keeps you entertained for long periods of time. Worth the money.

I like the triple cymbals but they are a lot louder than the drum pads. It would be nice if they made some silencers for the cymbals also the clamps are plasic so they are breakable.

4 Stars You can’t rock without cymbals!
The cymbals add a lot to the drums. It makes it a lot more realistic! It also makes it a lot more difficult. Really easy to add on to the Rock Band 2 stand alone drum set. My husband loves playing the drums, I’ll just stick to the guitar!

5 Stars Excellent! Takes your experience beyond the boxed set!
As mentioned in other reviews, this product may be a bit on the noisy side but that is certainly compensated by the good build quality and accuracy. On top of that, learning the game again is a lot of fun as this set just takes it to a different level… makes you wonder why these are not part of the original boxed set! And the relatively low price is also a high point. I debated at first to get the 2 cymbal expansion, but why do that if you can get the full set for just a few bucks more?

Mine travelled via cargo for at least 3,000 miles and they played without problems right out of the box… no problems at all with double-hits or no-go’s.

5 Stars hard to get used to but make playing more fun
these are hard to get used to but they make playing more fun. you can tighten them like real cymbals. i like to keep the green one loose. it comes with a red screw for the config for the left flip if you want to set it up that way. i have it set up for right handers and the leftys play just fine that way. for some songs you can listen to the sound that the color makes. sometimes the color is a drum and sometimes its a cymbal sound. so what i do is hit the drum if its a drum sound and cymbal if its a cymbal sound. there is also a freestyle setting in the game when you play on that you just got a full drum set with separate sounds for drums and cymbals. my tv is low so they get in the way some. i give these things a pounding. i have had no problems. they are confusing to assemble the stands. i am glad i bought the triple cymbal set. i play medium on drums.

3 Stars FUN, BUT BARE-BONES 6.5 OUT OF 10
The first time I played the Wii was a terrible experience to the point of I hated it almost as much as the Gamecube (God, what an awful console that was). But then I got hands-on time with Wii Sports that has now peeked my interest in the system. It certainly isn’t even close to being anywhere near perfect, but it will provide cheap thrills for hours of entertainment.

WHAT THE GAME IS: A game packaged with the Wii console containing sports like Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling, and Boxing. The games are very short and require minimal effort to be good at them.

GRAPHICS: This sure doesn’t show off any capabilities of the Wii, it would have looked mediocre on last-gen consoles. The sloppy textures, the unremarkable childish animation, and the boring level designs bring down the experience at times.

MUSIC: Annoying and repetitive.

SOUND: The sounds match the sports they go along with, but it seems too quiet.

GAMEPLAY: The gameplay generally works fine, but there are times when it feels like it doesn’t respond in time. Tennis works by simply swinging the Wii-mote like a racket. Baseball is the same situation, hold your Wii-mote like a baseball bat and swing. Golf, use the controller like a golf club and swing. With bowling, hold down the B-button and toss the move the controller like you’d move a bowling ball in real life. With boxing, it requires both the Wii-mote and Nunchuck and you frantically fling your arms forward like a boxer. The game itself feels too short to last a long time at all, the experience is generally better if you bring a friend along to play with you. The game will entertain you for awhile, but I look for beefier games with more content, and unfortunately Wii Sports misses the mark and is too short for its own good.

OVERALL: If you get a Wii, you’re getting this game. It will entertain, and people who’ve never played games before will get a kick out of it, but more hardened gamers will look for an experience that provides more entertainment.

THE GOOD: The sports are easy to pick and play, and playing with friends.

THE BAD: The graphics, the music, and the game is too short.

3 Stars all is not included
I have a hardwire internet connection at home, so I bought this product to hardwire my Wii as well. However, what the item description does not say is that the connector’s cord is only about 5 inches long. You need to connect it to your ethernet cable. Like most people (I suspect), my ethernet cable will not reach to where my Wii is in my house. So, after purchasing this product, I now need to go purchase an extra long ethernet cable. I chose this item because it is much cheaper than buying a router, but now I must spend more money on the cable so the value drops. Overall, it’s not a bad purchase, but be aware that unless your Wii is next to your computer, you will need to purchase a longer cable as well.

5 Stars Nyko strikes again!, another excellent Wii Product
For those of you who have found the Wii’s wireless internet connection to be less than stellar, this is an excellent solution to the problem.

In the past, I have always had issues with my Wii either having a slow wireless connection or just plain had problems connecting at all with my home network. It sometimes became so frustrating that I ended up not playing my Wii for several months, keeping myself occupied with my PS3.

If your like me though, I couldn’t stay away from the Wii forever, so I decided to try and find a solution to my problem, and that solution is Nyko. Nyko for the last few years have been coming out with excellent products to go along with the Wii, and this is no exception. I plugged it in to the USB port on my Wii, then connected my ethernet cable to the other end, changed the internet connection settings from wireless to wired, and boom, internet connection. Downloading contect is now much faster and reliable, and allows me to enjoy my Wii again. Thanks Nyko

Pros: Setup, Value, Quality

Con: The Wii not coming with a slot to connect an Ethernet cable directly to it. If that was the case, this product would not be needed.

In Wii Music every band has six members: Two play the main melody, two cover the percussion beats, one covers the bass groove and one uses the song’s chords to support the melody. 2 Stars Pro Drummer: Wiimote Lag Kills This Title
I’m a professional drummer and also have worked in game dev since ‘95, and for me this game became too frustrating to play because of one simple flaw: there is a lag between hand flick and game reaction. This is a well documented problem, though not necessarily universal among all set-ups. Some players either may not experience it, or maybe simply do not notice it because they don’t expect to play these wii instruments in good crisp rhythm in the first place.

But this lag could very well be why many reviewers here have no fun when playing the game. When conducting, for example, you must hit a good 0.3 seconds before the actual downbeat. When playing drums, you will soon be in tears.

I have not noticed the game-killing lag in other titles, but there may be a simple explanation for this. When playing action or sports games, any small lag between input and game reaction is quickly learned and accounted for, often subconsciously, and becomes a part of gameplay. Not so with music, where your ear and actions should sync up precisely, and you expect to hear, feel, and react to a consistent tempo. As you try to adjust your rhythm to what you are hearing on Wii Music, the tempo shoots all over the place.

By the way, watch the gameplay videos and ask yourself why is nearly no one is able to play consistently and tightly in tempo — when you’d assume the producers had hours of gameplay videos from which to choose.

Anyhow, I have tried component cables, adjusting the sensitivity of the remote sensor, changing batteries, switching from hi-def to low, turning off surround sound, and have decided that this thing is like a junked toy piano that is neat to tinkle on but is actually unplayable. Which also means it’s worth far less than the retail price.

A shame, since it looks as if it could have been a fun sand box and music teacher (which is why I’m giving it 2 stars instead of one), if it wasn’t so impossible to make anything sound any good at all.

5 Stars Musician for WiiMusic
Having played the trumpet for 20+ years, I was excited to see a Wii game that included the whole orchestra- not just guitars & drums. While you cannot learn to play an instrument or read music with this game, it does a good job teach timing & pitch. Jam sessions are fun- the combinations are almost endless. Lessons are more like structured Jam sessions- you get to practice first with the music patterns before “recording” your performance. Some of the musical terms might be over the head of non-musicians but you can learn or understand them through experimentation while you play. The best part of WiiMusic is the Handbell section. This is THE BEST game I’ve played with a group of people (up to 4 at a time). I guarantee you and your friends will become obsessed with the handbells- you just can’t quit until you get it right! The Directing game is a lot of fun for 2 people. Trying to keep the orchestra together with two people directing is hilarious. The “Game” section is actually hard- you really have to listen but you can learn basic pitch and patterns. Finally, you can record your Jam sessions (saving the music videos) and review your performances on the handbells & directing. This is a great game- two thumbs up from this band geek.

5 Stars Great game for the WHOLE family!
I’ve always loved my Wii–just wish I had more time to play it. We got this game as a family Christmas present, and boy was it worth it. Everyone, from my 3 year old son, to my wife and I enjoy the game. Nintendo has really thought out a lot of these type of games, and, with the unique wireless aspect of playing the Wii, it really adds to the game play.

Some of the fun parts of the game we enjoy are the option to play songs with bells. We’ve done this lots during Christmas in our family with real bells, so having a virtual/game version was a blast. Wii Music offers simple songs to more advanced, but it’s a blast to play together.

My son really enjoys the Dog Suit “instrument” option. It’s funny how Nintendo added some goofy things like this, but, within one of the jam session options, you can select to “play” a dog suit. This involves barking and howling, moving your hands, etc. Lots of fun, and, as I said, my son gets a kick out of it.

Within the section that allows you to conduct a symphony, it’s fun to see what you can get the players to do. My son gets them to sweat almost every time since he has them playing so fast, and then holding a note for a long period of time.

In the end, this is a fantastic game that the whole family can enjoy. There are lots of varieties (rather than repeat them here, I suggest reading the product description) of game options, with some of our favorites above. You really can’t go wrong with this one…

1 Star Boring! Not worth the price
When I first saw this game advertised I thought it would be great. My husband plays in a band and is all about music and different instruments, so I got this for him for Christmas. Maybe if he was 3 he would like it… but it’s totally boring. It’s nothing like using real instruments and who wants to play nursery rhymes? Really? 3 Stars Good but not necessarily needed
I believe I can tell a difference in the pixel quality of game graphics but its not a huge improvement. You may be better off without them unless you’re a big visual quality freak.

3 Stars Wii HD Link Component Cable
Pros: Works as advertised.

Cons: WHY WHY WHY do these manufacturers (this means you too, Nintendo) make the audio connections so short? As it stands, I cannot separate the R and L audio connectors from the component video without extra couplers and cables so I can hook them into my A/V receiver. This is a design oversight, and is the reason why I rated this purchase so poorly.

5 Stars Disapointed, but it works as advertised
I have a 50″ plasma that I had my Wii hooked up to via the cables that came out of the box. the picture quality was horrendous(blocky, lagging, and the picture was just too “warm”), but it was so big that it was just still fun to play. I wanted to upgrade to the BEST possible picture I could for my Wii and I didn’t want to sacrifice anything. So I purchased the Wii HD Link Component Cable. There is no HDMI option which would be the best, but the Wii has it’s own limitations and let’s face it, it’s not known for it’s mind blowing graphics.

This product increased the picture quality in terms of color and in responsiveness. The colors are more vivid and they don’t seem so washed together, the picture actually pops now. The picture also moves more in line with what I’m doing. No choppiness and no lag time. The down side is that because of the the limitation of the resolution of the Wii itself, the picture is stll blocky at times. Now this may be because I’m a Wii Sports guy, I play that game like it’s my part time job. But the bowling pins seem a little “jagged” on my 50″, but overall I am very satisfied with the product itself. And for only $15 for the component cable, come on. TV’s are thousands, Wii’s are hundreds……doesn’t it make sense to upgrade for $15. It’s chump change in comparison.

Nothing to dislike. Gives a great picture on our 50″ plasma tv, it is a lot more clear than our friends wiis on various other TV formats.

I deceided to go with the HD cables for the price. [...] bucks is nothing to improve the graphics and overall picture even just a little. I’ve noticed deeper colors and a sharper picture on my reguallary played games. Would recommend these Nyko HD cables over any other over-priced competitors!

5 Stars An excellent mix of platforming and RPG elements!
I’ve just recently popped this game in for the first time. After hours upon hours of playing, I’m HOOKED!! “Super Paper Mario” is one of the greatest Wii titles available! It mixes the best of the old with the best of the new: consisting of that familiar, nostalgic feel of classic Mario games and 3D and RPG elements from the first two Paper Mario games. You travel through various worlds, switching back and forth from 2D to 3D in order to overcome countless puzzles and obstacles.

In addition, you level up your stats by defeating enemies and finding special power-ups. Sometimes, you will need to switch between characters (there are four of them in all, including: Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi) in order to progress further into the game. Furthermore, you get to use the power(s) of creatures called, “Pixls” (each with their own unique ability), who help you advance in your quest.

The storyline, characters, and overall game play is very fun and captivating. It should appeal to ANY age group out there! Of course, it should even appeal to the biggest Mario purist! If you’re looking for something that is slightly different, but that you and your family will enjoy, I highly recommend this game!

Also recommended: “Super Mario Galaxy”, “Mario Kart Wii”, “Super Smash Bros. Brawl”, “Paper Mario”, and “Paper Mario – The Thousand Year Door”.

5 Stars Downright Fun.
My wife loved the version for N64, so this was a treat for her. She keeps playing the thing even though she’s already beat it. She said it’s fun, and only stopped playing it when I finally got her Super Mario Galaxy.

5 Stars Fabulous Mix
The game starts out with a pretty classic feel — d-pad navigation and the 1 and 2 buttons filling the space of a and b buttons on an original nes controller. After a little time getting use to the game a few more controls are added, making game play incredibly rich. I thought I would miss the rpg-style battles I fell in love with in Super Mario RPG, but found the combination of attack points and enemy stomping to be a great mix, especially once the concept of ’smooth moves’ was introduced, making leveling up far easier.

There is an awful lot of reading. Some of it really necessary and some of it just makes the story better. My husband and daughter skipped over most of the reading by hitting the a button as fast as they could without really effecting their game play (if they thought they missed something they could just talk to a person again).

This includes some really puzzling puzzles, a fun story, great characters (both new and old), and a variety of controls. Just a fabulous combination!

4 Stars Blows your mind!
Okay… first off, this games has a lot of dialogue! I’m not kidding, you will be reading a book! BUT, aside from that this game is so cool. You have to really think when you play. Flipping for 2-D to 3-D will make all the difference when you are trying to continue on your quest. It is a must have game! I hope you enjoy!

3 Stars Not what i expected.
This is one time it would have paid to do some research. I bought this game unaware of the previous RPG nature of the Paper Mario series. This game actually shares quite a bit in common with Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS: a central village, shops, some controls and stylistic elements, which i find a bit odd. It’s strange to play a Mario game with experience points, hit points (heart points) and so forth. It certainly isn’t anything like two of my favourites: Super Mario World (SNES) and New Super Mario Brothers (DS). This is not an action game, it’s a series of puzzles and dialogue. If you like puzzles, you’ll love this game; if you want action, this one isn’t for you.

If you like Disney Channel or if you like fun music then I think you’ll like Disney’s Sing It game. There are several different songs for you to choose from artists like Hannah Montana, Cheetah Girls, High School Musical 1 & 2, Jordan Pruitt, Corbin Bleu, Jesse McCartney, and many more. It’s also cool that while you are singing the music videos are playing in the background which is different than most of these types of games. The game is simple to play and a lot of fun so go and pick up a copy today. I think this is Disney’s BEST karaoke game to date.

3 Stars Fun Family Time
This is a fun family game. It does get repetitive after awhile. There are very limited choices of music. We did have fun with it when we first bought it. I would recommend getting a used copy though, so you do not have to pay full price.

5 Stars Wow, my daughters just loved it!!
I bought the Disney Sing It, being that my oldest daughters (9)passion is to sing. The whole family is using it! I bought an extra microphone so that they can sing as a duet.

The nunchuk works as it should. I bought it because my Wii only came with one nunchuk and we needed 2 to play some 2 player games. It appears to be a real Wii nunchuk and not a knock off. It works great. Recommended!
