3 Stars My 8-year-old is a Pokemon fanatic
Like I said, my daughter loves this game. My husband and I were not so impressed. We expected it to be more of a game involved, but it is really just battle after battle. You can’t catch any new Pokemon and if we had a Nintendo DS, I think this would be a great tie-in. Since we don’t, the gameplay definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

3 Stars Pokemon Revolution
my daughter loves this game , she is abled to so much cool stuff. She and her friends love to play this game.

3 Stars Similar dance, but there’s a twist!
Those of you who are familiar with Stadium, Colosseum, and whatever the other one is called, its just about the same. The Pokemon animations from those old games have not changed, and neither has Gloom having eyes for that matter. New to the series (I believe) is the ability to customize your character in terms of how he/she looks, what they wear, and even their battle messages which in my opinion is pretty awesome. If your a huge fan of animals, which is basically saying a huge fan of Pokemon (like I am), then this game is a must. Especially if you trained a special team in Diamond/Pearl, because the game allows you to copy that team over to your Wii! I used to just love my team, now I freaking LOVE them! Not the best soundtrack, no story really, but the best and closest thing to a “real” Pokemon battle. Good for youngsters, pokemaniacs, and cool trainers alike.

5 Stars Pokemon Stadium 5
Pokemon Battle Revolution is the fifth game in the Pokemon Stadium series, and the first Pokemon game released for Wii. A fantastic game for any Trainer from Sinnoh that would like a taste of competitive battling, it’s all about battles, all the time.

Create a Battle Pass (a sort of Trainer Card) or rent one, and begin your battling experience. Numerous Colosseums await your challenge, each with it’s own rules, Trainers, and setting. You may challenge the fiery Magma Colosseum, and be faced with Fire-types, or the dramatic Stargazer Colosseum, and battle against some of the toughest Trainers around.

But let’s not forget the multiplayer capabilities of this game. You may battle a friend in Free Battle, or DS Battle Mode. Plus, with a broadband internet connection, you may have Wi-Fi Battles with a friend, or a randomly selected Trainer. After the Wi-Fi Battle, you may exchange Friend Passes with the opponent, allowing you to use their Battle Pass in certain battles.

You can’t go wrong with any Pokemon game, but for battling fans, Pokemon Battle Revolution is the ultimate Wii experience!

4 Stars tami’s review
Game is awesome for allowing you to use the pokemon you have worked to build up on your Nintendo DS devices and compete against eachother on a big screen. Only negative is that that’s pretty much all it offers. There are a few different battle arenas.

Boom Blox

BOOM BLOX, is the first game developed in collaboration between two giants of multimedia entertainment, Electronic Arts and director/producer, Steven Spielberg. Spielberg is obviously a master storyteller and so knows a thing or two about blockbusters, but he also no stranger to the gaming world. A long-time gamer himself, he conceived the original idea behind Lucas Art’s PC/Mac title The Dig, but busting these BLOX is an entirely new concept.

Levels and Levels of Fun
A Puzzle/Action game inspired by Spielberg’s own search for a game that he would enjoy playing with his own kids, BOOM BLOX is designed specifically with the strengths and versatility of the Wii in mind. In it players can look forward to a fast-paced gameplay blending the simplicity of the wildly popular block game Jenga and the crazy complexity of a Rube Goldberg machine–devices that although performing very simple tasks are designed to do it by the most complicated means possible.

BOOM BLOX features over three hundred levels, a variety of activities, a cast of over thirty wacky characters, and an easy-to-use in-game editor that allows players to express their creativity. It’s visceral gameplay is perfectly suited for the Wii’s interactivity. The action gets going fast and the fun never ends as you throw baseballs, blast lasers, save wacky animal characters, explore cool worlds and more!… making it the ultimate Wii blox-buster for 2008.

Features:

  • Throw, grab, and blast your way through 300+ levels – Use fun action gestures and crazy virtual tools (like bowling balls, baseballs and fire hoses) to destroy your way through over 300 brain-twisting challenges.
  • Fast-paced Multiplayer Action – Fun for kids and the entire family, BOOM BLOX offers action-packed interactive activities that takes Wii play to a new level of creativity and fun with single player, co-op, and versus gameplay. Up to 4 players at once.
  • Over 30 Wacky Characters set in 5 Unique Worlds – Tackle the action and interact with entertaining characters such as the Blox-laying chickens or the baseball throwing monkeys, who bring personality to the Tiki, Medieval, Frontier, and Haunted themed environments.
  • Make It Your Own/Share – Unlock characters, worlds, blox, and props throughout the game and use to build whatever you can imagine in Create Mode. You can virtually build anything you can dream up. Remix any level and share what you create with friends via WiiConnect24TM.

Endless Play and Replay Combinations
Built upon a full real-time physics model, each player’s BOOM BLOX experience can be as easy or difficult as you want it to be. Additionally, players can remix any level of the game in Create Mode using props, blocks, or characters that have been unlocked during the game. Players can also virtually build anything they can dream up. This makes for nearly endless play and replay options in what promises to be the latest must-have Wii title for the entire family.

This is a very interesting game. One I can play with my grandchildren and not get beat every time. It takes patience and skill. I love it. We have a great time playing this game as a family.

1 Star ouch
if you like your arm don’t get this.I am 12 and i hate this game. you really have arm pain for about a week or so. its not even that fun to play. here are some grades i would give it.

pros

graphics are great

good two player

that’s about it.

cons

hurts after.

not that fun

not good enough for the money you spend getting this game.

so to sum this up I hated this game and you should save money for games like Super smash bros or wii fit, mario super sluggers, and aniamal crossing.

5 Stars 9 year old son loves the game.
My son loves the game. He can’t stop playing it and enjoys the fact there are several levels in the game.

5 Stars BEWARE of this game!!!!
This game is so much fun and addictive – watch out you’ll just keep playing and playing…. My wife, who hates video games, loves to play this with me. My kids love to watch us play, they are under 4 years old and her motor coordination is not there yet developmentally. It is fun, non-stop. It is family oriented and fun. I am hooked on this game, and I am dragging my wife down with me – thankfully.

4 Stars Who knew “pretending” to play Jenga was so much fun?
I first played Boom Blox over Thanksgiving of ‘08, some friends said they had a game we had to play. This game has almost no learning curve whatsoever, anyone can play it, and anyone can be good at it, and I think that’s one of the reasons it appeals to so many types of people. My wife, who is not a big fan of video games as a whole loves this game, partly because it is just that much fun and partly because even though I am “the gamer” between the two of us, she mops the floor with me in Boom Blox.

While there’s a few flaws with the game, overall it’s a very well made an extremely fun game that will have you and your friends coming back to play it again and again. The concept is simple, push, pull, or throw your way to getting points by knocking down (or not!) blocks. Sounds too easy, sounds cheesy, it might even sound a bit dull, but get four people playing competitive Throw and see how long it takes before one or two people are jumping up and down because they stole someone else’s points. Go on, try it, I dare you! :P

Rayman Raving Rabbids

Rayman Raving Rabbids is the edgiest and most off-the-wall gaming experience in the history of the Rayman franchise. This new Rayman game features the funniest, zaniest, wackiest antics ever when hordes of nasty bunnies invade Rayman’s world. They enslave him, forcing Rayman to participate in a series of gladiator-like trials. In order to win his freedom, Rayman must entertain and outwit these crazed, out-of-control bunnies.

Beat the bad bunnies and become a superstar!

Innumerable uses for the Wii Remote allow for creative game modes. View larger.

Welcome to a new generation of Rayman
You’d be hard-pressed to find a game with as much character as Rayman Raving Rabbids. From the creative minigames to the quirks of the bunnies, this game packs an immense amount of entertainment on one disc. It’s rare in games that failing during a competition can bring you as much joy as actually succeeding, but Rayman Raving Rabbids does an admirable job of rewarding your failure with a large dose of comic screams, flying plungers and crossed eyes.

Of course, the point is to succeed and not let the bunnies laugh at your failure. Rayman Raving Rabbids may have a lot of style but it has very little plot. Each level consists of four minigame challenges and one “boss battle,” so to speak. If you complete at least three of the minigames, the main gate opens, allowing you to take on a greater challenge. Once you play a minigame in the Story Mode, you unlock that minigame and can play it at any time and against friends.

Exercise your Wii Remote
Hand it to Ubisoft’s development crew as they really took advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers’ capabilities. Some minigames are as simple as twirling the Wii Remote like a lasso and pushing a button to launch a cow as if you were in a hammer throw competition. Some minigames really test your coordinating, asking you to swing the Nunchuk like a jump rope and flicking the Wii Remote up to make Rayman jump.

Each level has one consistant challege, however: a rhythm game. As a song plays, the bunnies approach a spot on either stage left or right. When they hit that spot, you’ll shake the Nunchuk (if the bunny is on the left) or the Wii Remote when the rabbid hits the mark.

When you take on the boss stages, you’ll find yourself, more often than not, playing a rail shooter. The Wii Remote becomes your light gun, firing plungers at the horde of oncoming rodents. When your plunger supply runs out, shake the Nunchuk to reload. In recent years, the rail shooter (where you don’t control the movement) has been forsaken for the first-person shooter and free movement. The Rayman boss experience will make rail shooter fans rejoice. If other shooters can perform as well as the plunger-fueled firing action of Rayman Raving Rabbids, the genre will come back with a vengeance.

Impressive replay value
There’s extra incentive to play the many minigames of Rayman Raving Rabbids. When you complete a game in Challenge Mode, the game gives you a code that you can enter at the Rayman Web site which basically gives you access to special features on the site.

The minigames of Rayman Raving Rabbids skew toward a younger audience, and at first, an above-average gamer should find the games to be pretty easy. However, once the minigames are unlocked, a big challenge awaits you to get the highest scores and blast your friends in multiplayer challenges. That’s when the real party begins! Rayman delivers exactly what the Wii promises: fun and lots of it. Here’s hoping the bunnies come back for multiple invasions!

5 Stars What a game…
We were at a friends house who had this and we tried it and loved it, so we bought this one. Our seven year old loves to play it along with our teenager and us parents. I would get this one for sure.

5 Stars Very amusing
I like game a lot, it is amusing, comic, also that the rabbit with the bad face that puts, makes believe that it is very intelligent, but it is not this way… I recommend it to the whole family so that he/she laughs at the bad things that happen to the rabbit

5 Stars Awesome fun for everyone!
We totally love this game. Great fun for kids and adults. You never know what crazy and absurd level you will hit next. Bunny hunting with plungers as ammo is excellent!!

3 Stars Fun in short bursts
I got this as part of a promotion, free if I purchased the newest Raving Rabbids. While not exactly suited for all-day play, this game is made up of a lot of sub-games that take anywhere from just under a minute to up to maybe 5-7 minutes to complete. There really isn’t much as far as getting into character like in a roll-playing game, it is more a game of unique challenges (with a warped sense of humor) that you can take on one at a time, or in small groups. Once the games have been played through in a certain sequence, you can go back to any game or games to try them again at any time. This makes a great party game, as you never know just what the Rabbids are going to do next, which is good for a laugh, and the games don’t take very long to complete, letting more in on the fun.

The games are very fun to play for the most part, with enough variety for everyone, but they aren’t very elaborate, and can actually be tiring to try to play for an extended session.

A GREAT party game, one that gets you up & moving, but only an OK game for someone with all day to waste.

4 Stars Rayman Rabbids is a Great Game!
This game is for the whole family to play together Or one player. It is silly, fun, with a large variety of game challenges. They pay great attention to detail. You will not be board!

Story line is a duck like Gladiator playing for silly wacko rabbits.

5 Stars Great game!
I love this game. My daughter and I can play for hours: I am on the drums while she is singing (she’s 8). I like these key features:

(1) You can create your own band members and shop for them as well as give them tattoos.

(2) The music is good. Most songs I know. And you can download more. There is not alot of content for download..yet.

(3) The instruments are great. I had no problems sincing to my Wii

I do have a few cons:

(1) No much downloadable content

(2) Song words can move fast..I havent tried a fix yet. Will update if I find one.

So as you can see not many cons. We love the game and its ability to be a singer, drummer or a guitarist. Great fun!!!

5 Stars New Guitar Worth the Cost
We originally bought a used Rock Band system and soon had problems. We decided to spring for the RB2 Special Edition because of the improved guitar and quieter drums, it was well worth it.

4 Stars USB Ports
After unpacking and putting together Rock Band 2 Special Edition Bundle, we soon realized that Wii has 2 USB ports and the bundle requires 3. To avoid my kids being disappointed, I had to make a mad dash to the local Radio Shack to purchase a USB hub in order to hook up the guitar, drums and microphone.

Since this bundle is specifically designed for Wii, I’m surprised and disappointed that a USB hub was not included as part of the package.

4 Stars A Near-Perfect Rockin’ Good Time!
Thank you, Nintendo and Harmonix, for finally bringing the REAL Rock Band experience to the Wii. It was well worth the wait. Us Wii owners can now rock out with customized avatars and actual downloaded content! Woo hoo!

This game is almost too fun to even describe in words. I’m not going to go into details about the game play, since you can read the product description above, or on the official web site. While Rock Band 2 is best suited for groups (it’s a great party game!), you can still have fun rocking out with a partner or even alone. Of course, with the online play now available, you are never really alone!

Harmonix put together a *killer* set list for Rock Band 2, just as they did for the previous version. There is a good mix of new and old songs, something for everyone. You will enjoy playing songs you have come to know and love, and be challenged by the artists you never heard before playing this game.

[...]

As much fun as it is, Rock Band 2 for the Wii is not without its faults. The online experience is not nearly as robust as on other consoles, and you cannot export songs from the first Rock Band disc onto your console or SD card. (Truthfully, these issues were created by Nintendo, not Harmonix.) Also, you need to plug dongles into a USB port on the back of the Wii to use the wireless instruments; this doesn’t make much sense to me, since the Wii controllers are *already* wireless. Finally, the included, Ikea-style instrument set-up instructions were essentially useless (better instructions are available on the game’s official web site).

The bottom line is that if you have a Wii, this game is a must-buy. Some might find the price prohibitive [...], but if you have half as fun as I do playing it, you can be sure it is money well-spent.

Rock on!!!

5 Stars Lots of fun
Once you learn how to work everything and practice a bit it’s great fun. Excellent for just a few players or large groups like when having a party at your house. The fun seems to span all ages. My 77 year old mother-in-law loves it. A coworker’s 89 year old grandmother totally enjoys it. I have since bought another guitar and the 3 cymbal set for the drums and highly recommend those add-ons. After avoiding video games since college in the 80’s (due to the non-social, non-productive nature), I am totally sold on this!

Wii Zapper with Links Crossbow Training

The Wii Zapper is a gun peripheral that allows the user to insert a Wii Remote and Nunchuk, both sold separately, into either end and play a compatible game. The control stick on the Nunchuk controls player movement (on stages that allow player movement), while aiming the Wii Zapper moves the targeting reticule on the screen. The Zapper comes with Link’s Crossbow Training, which helps to familiarize the player with the Zapper in a shooting gallery style game. Link’s Crossbow Training contains three game styles: target shooting, defender and ranger.

Features:

  • Target Shooting: In target-shooting rounds, players shoot bull’s-eyes as they pop up on the screen. In early stages, targets are stationary. As the game difficulty increases in later levels, the targets move. Hitting the center of the bull’s-eye nets more points, and hitting targets in succession without missing earns combo multipliers. Link can aim anywhere on the screen.
  • Defender: In defender rounds, players remain stationary but can look and aim in all directions by aiming off screen. Hordes of enemies assault Link, and he must fight them off. These battles have a great deal of variety, from fighting off skeletons in a desert to defending a wagon from boar-riding Bokoblins.
  • Ranger: In ranger rounds, players can move throughout the level using the control stick and aim anywhere they want by aiming the Wii Zapper wherever they want to look. In these missions, Link storms enemy encampments, fights his way through a forest and seeks out his foes while exploring the environments.
  • The Wii Remote and Nunchuk are sold separately

4 Stars my 4 year old son
my 4 year old son loves shooting games and we rent them all the time and they are way too hard for him, this game is perfect for him and the zapper is easy to hold and use.

3 Stars okay
The game isn’t what I expected, however the zapper has made other games a more fun experience.

5 Stars learn the basics with wii zapper
The Wii zapper is very easy to use and fun. You need to use both the nunchuck and the wii-mote but it is very accurate and simply. This one is larger than the other guns but after doing research I found that it is much more durable than the other guns. I highly recommend

4 Stars Worth every penny.
I was told from a friend how much fun it was and he didn’t let me down. YOu could not purchase this game anywhere in Erie the month of January. Amazon didn’t let me down. My grandchildren from age 6 thru 12 enjoyed it so much I bought any copy for them!

5 Stars The Whole Family Loves It
It’s a lot easier for me to use the Wii zapper to play various shooting games than to use the nunchuck and the remote. This game was a blast! We fight over who gets to play with it (we end up being civil and taking turns) and pretty soon here we’ll probably just buy a second zapper. I am not an avid gamer but I love the Wii because it’s easy for everyone to use and more interactive than other gaming platforms. To sum up, I normally can’t stand shooting games, but this one is great fun.
